The MacIntyre Gazette was founded in April 1995 by Lester Dawson

Lester saw a clear need for a regular newsletter to connect the communities of Inglewood, Texas, and Yelarbon, and all the areas in between.

From those early days, the Gazette has been about bringing local news straight to the people who live it.

What began as a small home office on the Dawson family farm in Inglewood soon grew. MacIntyre Gazette owners Lester & Heidi Dawson at their Texas Office.

Our logo reflects our roots, with three points representing our founding towns and an eye at the centre — symbolising our commitment to keeping a close watch on what matters most to our readers.

In 2000, Heidi joined the team, working from her home in Texas and regularly travelling to Inglewood. In 2003, Lester and Heidi were married, and the Gazette found a new home on Mingoola Road, Texas.

With an eye for opportunity and community need, the business expanded into a retail outlet — offering photocopying, office services, and more.

Since 2007, we’ve proudly operated from our current location on High Street, Texas. Through all the ups and downs, our mission has remained the same: to deliver free, local news to the letterboxes of our community every week.

We’ve embraced the digital age too — you can now follow us on Facebook and explore our stories right here on our new website, anytime and anywhere.
