ANZAC Day Tribute
Medals belonging to the late Bill (W.G) Stower of Inglewood were worn for the first time by his great-granddaughter April McKeown at this year’s Anzac Day Dawn Service at Eumundi where she represented her school by placing a wreath at the War Memorial.

Her great-grandfather Bill was stationed in Darwin with the RAAF when it was bombed during World War 2.
He was one of six sons born to his parents Mr and Mrs A.J Stower. His father Alf Stower was the Headmaster of the Inglewood State School for 30 years.
Bill enlisted in the RAAF when only 18 years old and spent the next five years serving in Darwin. At one stage during World War 2 he and three of his brothers were all on active service at the same time but in different sections of the Australian Armed Forces.
On his discharge in 1946 Bill returned to Inglewood and made it his home for the rest of his life.
Commenting later April said she and her family attended the Anzac Day Service every year and she had been proud to wear her great-grandfather’s medals for the first time at this year’s Eumundi ceremony.
