Canberra Camp for Texas Students
In the first week of Term 3, Texas students in years 4-6 travelled south for an amazing camp experience.
The Canberra Camp was an incredible experience, combining hands-on learning, adventure and plenty of fun. Throughout the week, students explored some of Australia’s most significant landmarks and attractions, gaining a deeper understanding of our nation’s history, government and culture.
Students enjoyed visiting Parliament House, where they learnt about Australia’s democratic system, and were amazed by the interactive exhibits at Questacon. They explored the National Electoral Education Centre and gained valuable insights into how elections work in Australia. A visit to the Australian War Memorial provided an opportunity to reflect on the service and sacrifice of Australians throughout history, while Dubbo Zoo offered a unique chance to learn about wildlife conservation and see animals from around the world.
One of the highlights of the camp was undoubtedly Snow Day at Perisher. For many students, it was their first time experiencing snow! From travelling through the beautiful Snowy Mountains on the Ski Tube to playing in the snow, building snowmen and simply soaking up the magical winter scenery, it was a day that will be remembered for years to come.
We are incredibly proud of the way our students represented our school throughout the entire camp. They demonstrated outstanding behaviour, showing respect, responsibility and enthusiasm at every venue. Their willingness to participate, ask questions and support one another made the experience even more rewarding for both students and staff.
Canberra Camp provided far more than educational opportunities—it helped students build confidence, develop independence and strengthen friendships. The memories created and lessons learnt throughout the week will remain with them long after the camp has finished.
A heartfelt thank you goes to our teachers, parents and students for making the camp such a wonderful success. We are extremely proud of the way our students embraced every opportunity and represented our school with pride. What an unforgettable adventure it was!
The Canberra Trip is a year 4-6 camping experience offered to primary school students every three years.
