Celebrating 25 Years of Creativity and Community
The Texas Regional Art Gallery was abuzz with colour, conversation, and creativity on Saturday, 13th September, as art lovers, locals, and special guests gathered for the opening of A Splash of Spring — the gallery’s vibrant new exhibition, and a celebration of its 25th anniversary.

The milestone event was proudly supported by the Goondiwindi Regional Council, with Councillors Julia Spicer OAM, Kym Skinner, Phil O’Shea, and Jason Watts in attendance. The official opening was conducted by Councillor Phil O’Shea alongside Texas Arts Council President, David Hayward.
In his opening remarks, Mr Hayward reflected on the gallery’s journey over the past quarter-century, acknowledging the dedicated volunteers, the ongoing support of the Regional Council, and the many artists and visitors who have contributed to its continued success.
“This gallery has always been about more than just art — it’s a place of community, culture, and creativity,” he said.
A Splash of Spring lives up to its name, showcasing a bright and diverse collection of works by local, regional, and Brisbane-based artists. The exhibition features a rich array of mediums and styles, offering something for every art enthusiast. Among the talented artists on display are Kate Owen, Karen Backus, Annabel Cleeve, Kate Mitchell, Jane Henry, Sophia Cameron, Nel Byrnes, Robyn Beeston, and Olivia Finlay.
From bold brushstrokes to delicate designs, the exhibition captures the essence of the season — renewal, vibrancy, and joy.
Whether you’re a seasoned art collector, a curious newcomer, or simply looking to enjoy a creative escape, A Splash of Spring offers an inspiring experience. The exhibition runs until the 24th of October at the Texas Regional Art Gallery.
