Festival of Small Halls Announces Spring Tour 2025: Outback Queensland to New South Wales

Festival of Small Halls has announced that Joe H Henry and Georgia Mooney will feature on their upcoming Spring Tour 2025: Outback Queensland to New South Wales. Presented by veteran festival producers Woodfordia Inc, the 47th edition of the much-loved not-for-profit music tour is embarking on a packed schedule to fifteen community halls.

These stalwart vessels of community life have been drawn from across the rich and diverse landscapes of Queensland and New South Wales. Halls of all shapes and sizes will throw open their doors, from the quaint hinterlands of the Sunshine Coast to outback locations like Eulo, Blackall and Cameby down into the Granite Belt and finishing up along the coast of Northern New South Wales.

Métis singer-songwriter Joe H Henry possesses a voice described as “as powerful as a freight train,” a potent instrument that delivers his blend of early rhythm and blues, soul, and alt-country, enriched by folk-inspired lyrical depth. He was a great hit at the most recent Woodford Folk Festival and is thrilled to be returning to Australia to continue making his mark.

Visiting from Canada/Turtle Island and drawing from a life encompassing experiences from a homeless train hopping youth to a homesteading father of five, Joe’s songwriting is thoughtful and his storytelling captivating, forging a strong connection with diverse audiences.

Of travelling into outback Australia, Joe said: “It feels like a moment that I have waited my whole life for – while never knowing it was possible – is about to take place.”

“I’m so very grateful to have the opportunity to make some lifelong memories in such an amazing landscape of amazing people”.

ARIA-winner Georgia Mooney makes music fit for stargazing. Audiences first came to know her from beloved folk band, All Our Exes Live in Texas, who toured the world extensively, sharing stages with everyone from Backstreet Boys to Midnight Oil.

The release of Mooney’s debut solo album Full of Moon marked the stepping forward of a major talent. Coproduced with Grammy-winner Noah Georgeson (Joanna Newsom, Cate Le Bon, Marlon Williams), the album is an ornately melodic, folk/dream-pop universe, carried by Georgia’s soaring ethereal vocals over lush, cinematic soundscapes.

“I’ve wanted to play a Small Halls tour for a long time and am absolutely thrilled to be doing one in regional Queensland”, said Georgia. “It is so exciting to go beyond the big cities and visit country towns that are often overlooked on the touring circuit. I can’t wait to meet the local communities and have a big sing together! I have a feeling this is going to be a tour I remember forever!”

Festival of Small Halls Spring Tour 2025 starts on the 1st of October at Woodfordia before continuing on to 15 communities across Queensland. The tour concludes at Currabubula on Saturday 25th October.
