Lest We Forget: A Moving ANZAC Service at Mingoola Place
On Wednesday 22nd April, Texas P-10 State School gathered in the beautiful gardens of Mingoola Place at Texas Hospital for the 2026 ANZAC Day commemorative service. It was a deeply moving morning of reflection, bridging the gap between the youngest learners and the senior community members.

Texas School Captains, Amelia Harvey and Addison Irwin, displayed exceptional leadership and poise, delivering a speech that resonated with everyone in attendance. Indyanna Bracken, Lachlan Cope, Kelli Turner, and Nevaeh Osmond also deserve special mention for their lovely poetry readings.
It was a privilege to be joined by local RSL Sub-branches, whose presence added great significance to the service. Mr Glen Gibson (Vice President, Stanthorpe RSL Sub-branch), Mr Peter Beacroft (Director, Stanthorpe RSL Sub-branch) and Mr Vince Clegg (Texas Sub-branch Member) were in attendance.
A highlight of the morning was seeing the students engage so thoughtfully with the returned servicemen. The questions they asked showed a genuine desire to understand and honour the sacrifices made by those who served.
Special Acknowledgements - The Sounds of Remembrance: Sincere thanks to Mr Greg Finlay for his stirring performance on the bagpipes, and to Joshua Dixon for his wonderful rendition of The Last Post.
The Hosts: Heartfelt thanks to Jodie Lawson and the wonderful team at Texas Hospital for hosting Texas School and making them feel welcome.
It was a privilege to commemorate this important day together as a community.
Sean Cole - Texas State School Principal
