Local Cowboy Reaches Mount Isa Finals...
Sixteen-year-old Beaudie Nenadic from Texas proved he’s one to watch on the rodeo circuit after a strong showing at this year’s Mount Isa Rodeo — one of the biggest events on Australia’s rodeo calendar.

Competing in both the Junior Bull Ride and Steer Ride events, Beaudie was among a large field of competitors, with 38 junior bull riders and 47 steer riders battling it out for a spot in the finals. Only the top 10 scorers from each category progressed — and Beaudie did just that in the Junior Bull Ride.
He rode in both the Junior Steer and Indigenous Junior Steer events, scoring 62 in each. While he didn’t place in those events, it was a solid performance that showed real consistency. In the Junior Bull Ride, Beaudie posted an impressive 64 in the first round, finishing in the top 10, but was unfortunately bucked off in the final, finishing without a score.
The road to Mount Isa was a long one, with Beaudie and his family only stopping for fuel and to switch drivers. “The scenery was so different from home,” Beaudie said. “The days were hot and long like summer, and the nights were freezing cold. But it was great to experience another part of Queensland.”
Despite carrying an elbow injury from a previous rodeo in Casino — where a rough ride left him with his spur hooked in the tail of his rope and him being dragged around the arena for what Beaudie described as an eternity — he still managed to ride three out of four of the rough stock at Mount Isa.
“Even though I didn’t place in the finals, I had a good run,” he said.
Currently sitting at No. 7 in the NRA Junior Bull rankings, Beaudie remains in a strong position to qualify for the national finals. Fellow Texas rider Brodie Salter is also in the running at No. 11. If both boys stay within the top 12, they’ll earn their spots in the finals, scheduled just a week before Beaudie jets off to Las Vegas to represent Australia at the Youth World Finals.
Next up, Beaudie will compete in the Junior Bull Ride event at Tamborine.
While there were no other local riders from our immediate coverage area competing in Mount Isa, Stanthorpe’s Billy Gallaway also made it through to the finals in the Junior Bulls, finishing a strong fourth overall.
Competitors at Mount Isa came from across Australia, New Zealand, and the USA — making Beaudie’s performance among such a talented international field all the more impressive
