Council will be installing five new roadside signs across the region in the coming weeks. The signs are designed to encourage residents and visitors to plan ahead and stay informed while travelling.

The new signs, funded by the Get Ready Queensland Program, highlight the importance of accessing up-to-date travel information. They direct travellers to key resources, including the Goondiwindi Regional Council Dashboard, the Queensland Traffic website, and the NSW Traffic website, acknowledging the region’s unique border location. These resources provide real-time updates on road conditions, weather forecasts, and emergency alerts, ensuring travellers are well-informed and prepared for their journey.

The first two signs have been installed in Goondiwindi at Redmond Park (Driver Reviver) and the Goondiwindi Town Park to maximise visibility. Additionally, one sign will be installed in each of the towns of Yelarbon, Inglewood, and Texas, leading into Get Ready Queensland Week from October 6-12.

The initiative supports the core Get Ready Queensland messaging of “know your risk, make a plan, and pack a kit.”

Goondiwindi Regional Council Mayor, the Honourable Cr Lawrence Springborg AM, said “summer represents the most common time for storms, floods and bushfires in this region. Our region is the hub for numerous busy traffic routes, and safety is priority during disasters. These new signs are a simple but effective way to remind people to check local conditions and plan their journeys. By providing easy access to information from both Queensland and New South Wales, we’re helping travellers make informed decisions and stay safe. It’s a key part of our commitment to assisting our community and visitors to be prepared.
