Roosters Girls Go Down Fighting in Grand Final Thriller!
The Inglewood Roosters women’s team capped off a stellar season with a gutsy performance in the Border Rugby League Women’s League Tag Grand Final last Saturday, going down 10–4 to a strong Stanthorpe outfit.
Inglewood got off to a dream start, with Kaylah McPherson crossing for the opening try of the match to give the Roosters an early 4–0 lead. But Stanthorpe quickly hit back with a converted try, nudging ahead 6–4 in a tight and physical contest.
Both sides dug deep, but it was Stanthorpe who managed to break through again in the 41st minute, sealing the match with another try and holding firm to claim the title.
Despite the narrow loss, the Roosters girls left everything on the field and earned praise for their grit, determination and team spirit throughout the season.
The club congratulated Stanthorpe on their well-earned victory and thanked players, supporters, and volunteers for their incredible backing all year.
In the men’s Grand Final, Stanthorpe also came out on top—holding off Tenterfield 38–34 in a thrilling, high-scoring contest. Both sides scored seven tries apiece in a game where the lead changed hands multiple times, with goal-kicking ultimately proving the difference
