State Championships representative heading to Townsville later this year; Mixed Martial Arts (MMA); Installation of a wheelchair lift; and Gala Netball Day at Toowoomba.

Brock Dawson recently participated in the Darling Downs Track and Field Championships in Toowoomba. He came 1st in the 400m Dash and 800m Run, and second in the Triple Jump. He will be competing at the State Championships in Townsville later this year. Texas school is extremely proud of Brock’s achievements.
Each Wednesday students have an opportunity to participate in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) at school. Damo and Mica from the local Your Church are qualified MMA instructors and have been teaching students at Texas School since 2024.
Work has begun on the installation of a wheelchair lift which will adjoin the walkway between the high school and the wellness centre. This will give disabled access to the upper rooms of these buildings. Work is meant to be completed by the end of 2025.
Some of the primary school students participated in a Gala Netball Day at Toowoomba last week. Students in years 4,5 and 6 made up 2 teams who competed against other teams from Toowoomba and the Darling Downs. Both teams were very competitive and did Texas School proud. Mrs Byrnes and Miss Loader, who organised the excursion, commented that the students have improved a lot since the school started its netball program.
