2026 School Leaders
Last fortnight Texas School proudly celebrated the 2026 Student Leader Induction. It was a significant occasion for the school community as student leaders formally stepped into their roles and committed to serving the school throughout the year.
The induction ceremony provided an opportunity to reflect on what leadership truly means. At Texas P-10, leadership is not simply about holding a title; it is about modelling school values of Respect, Responsibility and being Safe and Active Learners each day. Student leaders are role models for their peers, demonstrating respectful relationships, taking responsibility for their actions and learning, and actively contributing to a positive and safe school environment.
Councillor Susie Kelly delivered an inspiring address. She encouraged students to consider leadership through the lens of parents and the wider community, reminding them that thoughtful decision making, empathy and a commitment to service are hallmarks of effective leaders. Her message reinforced the importance of understanding the broader impact of leadership and the responsibility that comes with representing their school.
Texas School sincerely thanked Miss Celotto, Mrs S Finlay and the Prep to Year 3 students for their entertaining performance. Their enthusiasm and confidence added wonderful energy to the ceremony and helped make the occasion truly special for all in attendance.
Acknowledgement and thanks go also to Mrs Byrnes, Mrs L Finlay, Mrs S Finlay, Ms Hazard, Mr Krauss and Mrs Spriggs for their dedication in preparing the students and supporting the event.
Other special guests were The Honourable Councillor Lawrence Springborg, Councillor Kym Skinner and Jason Watts of Goondiwindi Regional Council, Senior Constable Bennett of Texas Police Station, and Texas School P&C President, Shannon Teese – thank you for your attendance.
Texas School congratulates the 2026 Student Leaders. We are incredibly proud and look forward to the positive contribution the leaders will make to Texas P-10 State School this year.
Regional Swimming Representatives
During the week, six of our students attended the Regional Swimming Championships in Gatton. Aubree Saunders will go onto represent the Darling Downs in the upcoming State Championships at the Brisbane Aquatic Centre in the 50m Butterfly after a fantastic qualifying swim. Texas is extremely proud of Aubree’s efforts as well as the other Texas students who competed.
