Mac Zone Athletics

Texas had 19 students head over to Goondiwindi to take part in Track and Field events at Mac Zone Trials this year. Whether they were running, jumping or throwing Texas students showed up! As always, all our students did a fantastic job and of course there were some highlights.

Willow, Tyson, Lachlan and Kendall all finished 2nd in their 800m events with fantastic runs! Kendall also scored herself a 1st place finish in high jump, jumping an incredible 1.21m! Charlotte scored two podiums with a 2nd-place finish in both her long jump and shot put. Braxton lit up the track in both of his sprints. He scored 1st place in both his 100m and 200m and set an incredible time of 29.36 2nds for his 200m!

With both these fantastic performances from Brax, he also earned the title of age champion for his age group, well done buddy!

Three of our Texas students have also been selected for the Mac Zone team that will head to Toowoomba for Darling Downs trials.

Brax has been selected for both the 100m and 200m, Kendall has been selected for high jump and Tyson has been selected for the combined event (100m, long jump, shot put and 800m).

Congratulations to all our Texas students and best of luck to our students heading to Darling Downs!

Border District Athletics

Week 3 saw a handful of our high school students head to Warwick to participate in the Border Districts Track and Field Carnival.

Lily, Annah, David, Zeppelin, Blair, Nevaeh, Sophie and Addi all participated in a range of events across both Track and Field.

It was a fantastic day for Athletics, and our students represented our school extraordinarily by giving it their all in each of their events. While all our students did a magnificent job, there were some highlights from the day.

David scored himself a 2nd place in his triple jump event with a whopping jump of 10.28m! He also represented our school at Darling Downs trials. Another one of our students on the podium who headed to Darling Downs was Blair! Blair scored himself a 2nd place finish in his 400m and a 1st-place finish in his 800m! Joining both these boys and heading to Darling Downs was Addi! Addi finished on the podium in both her 800m and 400m events, finishing 2nd. She also topped the podium with a 1st-place finish in her triple jump event with a jump of 8.33m! Not only did Addi score herself two 2nd places and a 1st but she also finished runner up age champion for her age group!

Addi’s amazing form continued last week at the Darling Downs trials, earning bronze medals in both the 400m and 800m running events. A spectacular effort!
