Welcome to Spring
On a Welcome to Spring occasion for the Glenarbon Birthday Girls on Tuesday the 8th September twelve girls and two busy boys (Nicolas and Francis) were greeted by Marie and her sister Jan, to Marie’s home at Limevale.
The nippy September breeze didn’t slow the catch-up chat or cool the tea and coffee as we enjoyed the outdoor setting for morning tea. With sign in done, birthday cards written on and lollies guessed, it was on to business.
The day started on a sombre note after hearing of the tragic death of Ian Campbell and his daughter Hannah the afternoon prior. This was devastating news for those who knew them. Condolences to their family and many friends and acquaintances.
This was followed by a most unwelcome quiz. Lost the job once. I guess I have again.
We then offered something we liked or enjoyed, (or not), about the coming of Spring.
Mardi suggested that we make sure we have our eyes tested regularly for glaucoma, telling a little about her ongoing battle with the disease.
Deb gave a short run down on Annie D’s overseas adventure.
Vera said grace and a very delicious springtime feast was enjoyed by all.
Suzi and Denise cut the lovely sponge birthday cake made by Val.
As always, the day must end as everyone ventures home.
Winners on the day were: quiz - Deb, Marie, and Suzi, lolly jar - Ann H, and Best dressed – Everyone, with special mention to Merrilyn’s fresh bottlebrush hat and cherry blossom Suzi.
