90 MPH Action set to hit Coolmunda

Hold onto your hats — Lake Coolmunda is set to roar when high-speed water ski racing hits the water on September 26 and 27.

Ski Racing Queensland is bringing two days of spectacular racing to Lake Coolmunda, with powerful boats towing one or two water-skiers at speeds of up to an incredible 90mph (145km/h).

Racing will take place in the lake’s forefront area, with competitors and support crews using the boat ramp.

For those unfamiliar with ski racing, it is a thrilling combination of high-powered boats, skilled drivers and highly experienced skiers, all working together at extraordinary speeds.

The event has received the required permits from Maritime Queensland and Sunwater, while Ski Racing Queensland will also have an ambulance and event officials on site throughout both days to support competitor and spectator safety.

Organised ski racing promises plenty of noise, spray and excitement and will provide locals and visitors with the chance to see a spectacular and unusual form of water sport right here in our region.
