Inglewood Pool Project Seeking Support

The QLD government has recently run a sports infrastructure grant for facility upgrades and Inglewood Swimming Club has thrown their hat in the ring to get funding to heat the Inglewood pool.

If successful, they will be installing 2 inverter heat pumps to keep the water at 28 degrees for the entire swim season. This will mean comfortable lap swimming, learn to swim and aquarobics from September to March and will mean the pool is usable for the whole family, from babies through to grandparents.

The second part of the plan is the installation of solar power to pay for the ongoing electricity costs. Council is committed to environmentally and financially sustainable facility upgrades, and this project will deliver a safer, more enjoyable aquatic centre for everybody, at nearly no cost to ratepayers.

If the swim club is lucky enough to secure a grant, they will still need to cover a $64,000 co-payment. They are investigating other small grants and sponsorship, but the majority will come from fundraising.

You can help by buying a raffle ticket at the Inglewood Hotel on the weekends, dropping some money in the donation box at Inglewood Post Office, voting for the Inglewood swim club for free in the “Kit Cares” Commonwealth bank promotion at Kit Cares Community Program https://campaign.heykit.com.au/kitcares-voting or making a tax-deductible donation via the Australian Sports Foundation website at https://asf.org.au/campaigns/inglewood-swimming-club-inc/heat-the-inglewood-pool
