Inglewood State School Prep–Year 2 Students Step Back in Time
At the end of Term 2, Inglewood State School Prep to Year 2 students enjoyed an exciting excursion to the Inglewood Historical Society Museum as part of their HASS unit exploring how technology has changed over time.
Their visit began with an engaging slideshow showcasing Inglewood in years gone by.
Students were fascinated to learn about the town’s history, including the tobacco farms that were once an important part of the community, the role of the iceman before modern refrigerators, and the construction of Coolmunda Dam. The presentation provided valuable insight into how life in the local area has changed over time.
The visit gave students a wonderful opportunity to compare everyday technologies from the past with those we use today. They were fascinated by the collection of old telephones, discovering just how different communication once was.
Another memorable experience was sitting in the old-fashioned dentist’s chair.
One of the biggest highlights of the day was climbing into the beautifully preserved horse-drawn buggy. Students loved imagining what travel was like before cars and buses became part of everyday life.
The excursion brought their classroom learning to life.
The class and staff would like to thank the volunteers at the Inglewood Historical Society Museum for sharing their knowledge and helping make the day such an engaging and memorable learning experience.
